Clarkston Community Center
Clarkston Community Center is a venue for special events and celebrations. It features a grand ballroom, a large event room, a meeting or party room, and an outdoor field with gazebos. The main ballroom holds 420 reception-style or 195 seated guests, while the other rooms accommodate 189 and 90 respectively. The ballroom has stunning architectural beams and refinished hardwood floors, making it perfect for an elegant affair. The other rooms have recessed lighting and floor to ceiling windows. Diastole Scholars' Center is a non-profit organization established by Dr. E. Grey Dimond and Mary Clark Dimond to provide UMKC with various activities such as retreats, recitals, lectures, continuing education, committee and staff meetings, journal clubs, reunions, study groups, luncheons, dinners, and University social gatherings. Additionally, this center offers limited services to non-University groups for scholarly, educational, civic and community enhancing events. The Diastole Scholars' Center has a full range of resources and experienced staff to fulfill its mission of providing UMKC with excellent experiences and activities. They are dedicated to cultivating an atmosphere that fosters learning, growth, and community engagement. Furthermore, they are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment from discrimination. This organization is not available for any personal social events such as weddings or birthday parties.
