- After serving in World War II, Edwin R. Montgomery (or "Ed," as he was known) settled in the Louisville area, and pursued real estate. He established The Montgomery Realty Company on Dixie Highway in 1952. He was granted one of the first building permits to construct an apartment building in Jefferson County outside the City of Louisville's boundaries. Once Ed got started in the real estate industry, he showed a willingness to try anything. Not only did he build and manage apartment complexes in Pleasure Ridge Park and Shively, he also built homes, developed subdivisions, managed commercial retail space, sold renters insurance, and, even, ventured into the hotel business. Today, Ed's son -Guy Montgomery- who joined the company in 1972, operates the business his father founded. Ed's grandson -Timothy Montgomery- joined the company in 2013, and, in 2014, also became a Realtor®.
