- The historic industrial warehouse at 34 Woolfe was built in 1914 as part of Consumer Ice Company and spent more that fifty years as Meddin Bros. Meat Packing and Provisions. In 2011 plans to adapt and reuse the historic structure began under the leadership of Village Repertory Co founders Keely Enright and David Reinwald. The award winning Village Repertory Company became the theatre in residence in the state of the art theatrical venue in December of 2012 .In 2015, Woolfe Street Playhouse was awarded the Carolopolis for outstanding exterior renovation. The Woolfe Street Playhouse is open year round and provides entertainment ranging from Tony Award Winning musicals to critically acclaimed new dramas for the visitors and residents of Charleston South Carolina. Woolfe Street Playhouse is also a gorgeous event space capable of hosting over 400 people in the 17,000 square foot facility. All events in our space are tailored to the event size and theme.
