In 1991, I started my career in the mortgage business by copying papers at a mortgage company for one of my father’s investors. A few short years later, an underwriter and I were transferred to Colorado to open a region for that company, which eventually grew into a large national wholesale lender. For 11 years, I worked for various wholesale investors and held multiple positions such as closing, underwriting, internal sales, compliance, operations, secondary marketing and loan servicing. Moreover, I obtained a real estate license to gain a more comprehensive understanding of real estate lending. In 2002, I opened my first mortgage company, a mortgage division and consulting firm for credit unions, in my basement. In 2008, I sold that company and founded Colorado Home Mortgages (CHM). CHM was created with the purpose of providing our clients, partner credit unions, and members with personalized service, pricing, and exceptional representation when financing real estate. Today, my wife Melinda and I work with our mortgage loan originator team to deliver services to our neighbors in Colorado while raising our two children.
