- The founders of V3 Systems had been incubating and working toward moving applications and data to the cloud, but it wasn't until August of 2010 that V3 formally commenced business operations. Founders Peter Bookman and Rodney Rasmussen experimented with virtual desktops in the cloud but even after years of development efforts, they and others realized that virtual desktops lacked performance and delivered a substandard end user experience. As they tested, it became clear that virtual desktops could not replace physical desktops because they were slow, hard to manage and impossible to scale. For Peter, virtual desktops were a downgrade from his physical desktops, and for Rodney, virtual desktops were simply unusable. These realizations forged the inspiration to create V3 Systems and develop technology that could deliver on the heretofore broken promises of virtual desktop computing.
