About the Business

At Centro Cultural de La Raza, we strive to protect and promote Chicana/o, Latino and Indigenous art and culture. Our gallery is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 12-4pm, with a number of special events and workshops taking place throughout the year. We provide an opportunity to explore the beauty and diversity of our culture through art and experiences.

We believe in the power of art to inspire and educate, and our gallery space is the perfect place to do just that. We provide a vibrant atmosphere for people to come together to celebrate, learn, and engage in conversation about the art we have to offer. Our team is passionate about creating meaningful experiences and continue to be dedicated to the preservation of Chicana/o, Latino and Indigenous art and culture.

  • The Centro was first formed in the Ford Building, known today as the Air and Space Museum in Balboa Park. It was then moved to the building it occupies now at 2004 Park Boulevard. This came after an intense struggle with the City of San Diego to claim a space for Chicana/o arts and culture in San Diego. The Centro Cultural was dedicated in 1971 at the new building and is still there today.
