The Open Media Foundation (OMF) is an innovative nonprofit organization dedicated to providing people with access to media and technology so they can effectively engage in their communities and create the change they wish to see. To do this, OMF offers affordable high-end media and technology services, along with the necessary training and tools that allow individuals to represent their own voice in the media.
The ultimate manifestation of this mission is Denver Open Media (DOM), where OMF brings together its three-part vision for enabling community access to media and technology resources. DOM provides state-of-the-art video equipment, as well as Internet media distribution and three community-programmed television channels. In doing so, DOM ensures that all communities have the media and technology resources needed to stay connected.

- In 2001, Tony Shawcross, co-founded a non-commercial website called [denverevolution] in order to promote independent arts and non-commercial community events overlooked by local media. In 2003, the denverevolution collective began producing video as the [denverevolution] production group. Free Speech TV provided the first editing station in an office donated by Little Voice Productions. In 2005 they changed their name to Deproduction and with the closure of Denver Community Television, they submitted a proposal to re-launch Public Access TV in Denver under an entirely new model, leveraging emerging web 2.0 technologies and business models into community media. They launched Denver Open Media (DOM) in 2006, with an independent brand and name that could be owned by the community. In 2008, after winning a Knight News Challenge award, Deproduction merged with Civic Pixel, the local web development firm who had built the DOM website. In 2009, the parent organization name became OMF.
