- Scott Yates was born and raised in New Zealand. He worked for Alloy Yachts at age 17 in Henderson Auckland in New Zealand where we gained the skills and knowledge and started working with wood. He traveled to The United States in 2003 and started Yates Woodworking in 2005 in Scotts Valley CA. His brother and family live locally and Co-own and operate Elite Construction in Santa Cruz CA. At a very early age Scott took wood shop in high school and fell in love with the craft. He build chairs, chests and tables and knew this is what he wanted to do.
