- Montgomery Parks (part of Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission) owns and operates Rockwood Manor since 1970s. The manor, itself, was built by Carolyn Gangwer Caughey(pronounced "Coy") in the 1920s as her country estate. At her death, the manor and estate was given to the then fledgling youth group, the Girl Scouts of America, which transferred ownership of the manor house and 30 acres to M-NCPPC in the early 1980s. Rockwood Manor has hosted weddings, business retreats and family reunions ever since.
