Air duct cleaning is recommended by the National Air Duct Cleaning Association at least every three to five years. Dust and other debris can travel through the ducts into your living space, causing sneezing, coughing, allergies and more. Dryer vent cleaning is recommended annually by the local fire marshal, FEMA, CSIA, and fire departments. Lint builds up in the vent pipe, reducing drying time and increasing the risk of a catastrophic event. Chimney sweeps and inspections should also be done once a year. Chimney fires are more common than you'd think and can cause a great deal of damage to the structure. A chimney sweep includes cleaning the firebox, throat, smoke chamber and flue, if present.
