In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, blockchain technology is accelerating industry transformation at an unprecedented pace. The USC Marshall School of Business is capitalizing on this momentum with the official launch of its Blockchain Commercialization Initiative, designed to enhance research, education, and industry collaboration in blockchain and other cutting-edge technologies.

This strategic move aligns with USC President Carol L. Folt's Frontiers of Computing Initiative , underscoring the university's deep commitment to digital technologies. The program will leverage the combined strengths of Marshall School research institutes, centers, and programs—including the VanEck Digital Assets Initiative, Digital Competition Initiative, and Randall R. Kendrick Global Supply Chain Institute.

Building on Market Momentum

The initiative follows last year's highly successful annual blockchain conference hosted by the VanEck Initiative, which attracted an impressive 1,700 participants—demonstrating strong market interest in this emerging field. The Blockchain Commercialization Initiative is poised to further cement USC's central position in the Web3 community by creating a dynamic platform connecting developers, investors, academics, and students.

"We're making significant strategic investments to position USC Marshall as the world's premier academic institution for blockchain research and education," said Dean Geoffrey Garrett of USC Marshall School of Business.

Academic Leadership in Blockchain

To support this vision, the school plans to establish two endowed faculty positions and provide dedicated research resources, paving the way for groundbreaking scholarship at the intersection of blockchain and business. USC will also recruit postdoctoral and predoctoral researchers along with research assistants to enhance the school's capabilities in blockchain and advanced technology applications.

Through this innovative initiative, USC Marshall is not only creating exceptional learning and research opportunities for students and scholars but also sending a clear signal to industry partners about its commitment to exploring blockchain's transformative potential. As a pioneer in frontier research and education, USC Marshall School of Business is charting a new course for blockchain commercialization in the digital age.
