Article 1: General Information
Metro by T-Mobile, formerly known as MetroPCS, was established in 1994 and is headquartered in Richardson, Texas. As the fifth-largest telecommunications provider in the United States, Metro completed its merger with T-Mobile in 2013 and now operates as a subsidiary brand. Utilizing T-Mobile's network infrastructure, Metro competes primarily with Verizon's Visible, AT&T's Cricket Wireless, and Dish's Boost Mobile.
Article 2: Service Offerings
1. Network Coverage: All plans include unlimited nationwide calling and texting with taxes included. Customers enjoy access to free WiFi calling services.
2. Plan Types: Metro offers eSIM services with no-contract, prepaid options. There are no activation fees, and customers can either port their existing number or purchase a new one. Users may bring their own devices or purchase phones through the company's website (starting at $0). Compared to other Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), Metro's entry-level pricing is relatively higher.
3. Limitations: All "unlimited" plans may experience reduced speeds after 35GB of usage during network congestion. International calling is not included and requires additional fees (e.g., $5/month for calls to Mexico, with other international destinations starting at $10+/month).
4. Add-Ons: Some plans don't include mobile hotspot functionality, requiring separate purchase.
Article 3: Plan Details
Metro provides four mobile plans divided into two categories:
- A 5GB high-speed data plan
- Three "unlimited" plans priced at $40, $50, and $60 per month
All unlimited plans include ScamShield anti-spam protection and one year of Vix+ Spanish-language streaming service. Higher-tier plans add 8GB/25GB mobile hotspot data and 100GB Google One membership (valued at $1.99/month). The $60 plan additionally offers unlimited international texting.
Article 4: Multi-Line Discounts and Additional Services
Customers can receive discounts for multiple lines when signing up in physical stores, while single-line pricing remains consistent between retail locations and the official website. Metro also provides home internet services, device data plans, and other related offerings.
