Caltech has released the s-FEAST algorithm, designed to enhance spacecraft autonomous safety and resilience. This algorithm overcomes the limitations of traditional redundancy systems by real-time assessment of spacecraft state, rapid fault diagnosis, and strategic response planning. Validated in multi-spacecraft dynamic simulators and ground vehicles, s-FEAST offers new approaches for space exploration and autonomous technology development. It provides a proactive, rather than reactive, solution to potential spacecraft failures, increasing mission success and reducing reliance on ground control.
