- Callanwolde was built in 1920 as the home of Charles Howard Candler, eldest son of Coca-Cola Company founder Asa Candler. The estate contains a magnificent 27,000 square foot Tudor Revival style mansion, lush gardens, and several outer buildings. In 1972, the estate was rescued from demolition through fundraising efforts by the local community and Dekalb County. The 12 acre estate (listed on the National Register of Historic Places) now serves as a campus for Callanwolde Fine Arts Center and is a favorite venue for weddings and events.
