About the Business
The Georgia Department of Revenue has extended the 2019 income tax filing and payment deadline to July 15th, 2020 without penalty or interest. This includes state estimated income tax payments which were due on April 15th and are now due by July 15th. However, this extension does not apply to any other state taxes, such as employee withholding or sales taxes, or information returns.
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has taken precautionary measures against COVID-19 by temporarily suspending certain services. These services include live phone support, processing paper correspondence, taxpayer assistance centers, distribution of paper forms, and IVES income verification service request processing. The IRS is encouraging taxpayers to use electronic resources to file their tax return, as well as to use available online tools for other tax-related services like requesting a transcript, paying tax owed, and checking the status of a tax refund.
Karen Fuller, EA is also available to help with any questions related to these issues. In addition, up to $100K of retirement funds withdrawn can be done so without being subject to a 10 percent early withdrawal penalty.
