About the Business
Oregon Center for Contemporary Art (Disjecta) is a leading arts organization based in Portland, founded in 2000 to promote and foster contemporary works of art of different media. Our mission is to provide the public with an opportunity to view and engage with both art and its creators. We host a range of exhibitions, performances, and installations throughout the year. Our space is also available for rental for private events.
The team at Disjecta is dedicated to providing unique experiences for our guests and we look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our space. Our malleable space allows for flexibility in hosting a variety of events and shows, bridging the gap between larger institutions and smaller grassroots organizations.

- Founded in a former Masonic Hall in NE Portland 10 years ago, Disjecta has concerned itself, surrounded itself & evolved with a rapidly changing community of artists. In the early years, group shows prevailed, resulting in a groundswell of artists who shaped a young, experimental vibe. 2000-2006 was a period of explosion for arts exhibitions. By 2007, the flux seen in the artist community was mirrored by our institutions. We at Disjecta were in a state of change as well. On the cusp of signing a long-term lease on our 12,000 sq-ft space, our attentions turned to commercial real estate, to program growth and drop ceiling demolition. In 2008, we opened our new facility & began to build a strong year round program that reflected the expanding Portland arts scene. Things went well. Now, we are housed in the historic Kenton Neighborhood & host a full calendar of performing, visual & installation art shows. Come visit!
