About the Business

Riverside Arts Market (RAM) is a weekly market hosted by Riverside Avondale Preservation, Inc. that takes place on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. It is an event that attracts over 4,000 people each Saturday and consists of different businesses ranging from farmers, artists, and bakers. There is also a riverfront amphitheater with seating for 350 people that hosts live music throughout the day.

Participants of the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) have the opportunity to buy local produce and double their dollars through the partnership with Florida Organic Growers' incentive program from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Every first Saturday of the month, visitors can also enjoy a beverage while exploring the market.

Additionally, RAM offers morning yoga at 9 a.m. on the river stage every Saturday from March to when it gets too cold. Free parking is available in the Black Knight/FIS parking lot, as well as in the surrounding neighborhood.

  • The Riverside Arts Market was born out of a public/private partnership between Riverside Avondale Preservation (RAP), a community non-profit, and the City of Jacksonville. The genesis of the concept came from RAP's Founder, Dr. Wayne Wood, who was visiting Portland, Oregon, in 1993 and happened upon the Portland Saturday Market, an outdoor art market partially covered by an old bridge. The weather-proof market idea seemed very adaptable to the space under Jacksonville's Fuller Warren Bridge. Wood returned to Jacksonville and convinced the Florida Department of Transportation to support the project and to dedicate the usual under-the-bridge landscaping funds to accomodate the Arts Market's amenities and requirements. Wood secured the backing of city officials as well. Although the project was delayed for several years because of problems related to the completion of the Fuller Warren Bridge, the Market finally opened in spectacular fashion on April 4, 2009.
