About the Business
Our business specializes in computer donations. The majority of computer donations are used in our home access program. These computers are refurbished and include educational software to help students gain academic success. They are distributed at no cost to eligible families in Alameda and Contra Costa County, including assistance with signing up for $10/month Internet and a complimentary getting, started digital literacy workshop.
Other residents may receive low-cost or free computers by volunteering or paying a small fee. A portion of donated computers is also refurbished and installed in schools and community centers.

- Tech Exchange (formerly OTX) is dedicated to providing digital equity to residents across the East Bay. OTX was founded by Bruce Buckelew, a pioneer in addressing the digital divide through green technology solutions. After retiring from IBM as a Systems Engineer and Manager, Bruce completed his Masters coursework in Educational Technology at San Francisco State University and began volunteering at Oakland Technical High School. With the help of students, Bruce began refurbishing computers to provide to families in need. Over the last 20+ years, OTX has refurbished over 40,000 computers for our community.
