About the Business
In 2011, Signal-Return opened its door in an empty storefront on Division Street in Detroit. They are passionate about letterpress printing, an art and craft that was popular in the 15th century and is appreciated anew in the 21st century. The print shop sets the stage for a range of activities and programming. These include hands-on arts workshops, an Open Studio program, educational partnerships with universities and schools, and collaborations with other arts and culture organizations.
Signal-Return is helping to revitalize Detroit and support the local art community. Visitors can find unique artwork that was created locally while they explore the Eastern Market for locally grown produce. The former egg crate production building is now filled with creative expression and communication.

- In 2011, an empty storefront on Division Street was transformed when Signal Return, dedicated to letterpress printing as a means of artistic expression and communication, opened its doors to the public. We are among a growing number of arts organizations invigorating and supporting an already lively and long standing Detroit neighborhood. In our building that formerly housed egg crate production, we connect with visitors who come to the Eastern Market for locally grown produce and then come into our space to find locally created, well made, original artwork.
