About the Business
Peggy’s Place is an emergency temporary housing center in Detroit, Michigan, run by COTS, a nonprofit organization committed to providing shelter services and promoting stability for people experiencing homelessness. Established in 1982, the resource center opened a family-only emergency shelter in 1995. Peggy's Place serves the city of Detroit and its surrounding areas, striving to create opportunities for families to build stable households, neighborhoods, and communities.
COTS has been helping the community for over 38 years with 24/7 services. Their mission is to break generational poverty and support homeless families and children in Michigan. They recognize that there are various reasons why someone may be facing homelessness and aim to be a welcoming and inclusive assistance center.
Peggy's Place, the COTS family-only emergency shelter, opened in Spring 2019. As an emergency shelter, they provide immediate temporary housing, meals, shelter, and child care to families in need. With the help of COTS, Peggy’s Place gives families the resources they need to achieve self-sufficiency, such as reaching their housing, economic, health, education, and career goals.
