- The Harper Fowlkes House is a beautifully appointed Historic Greek Revival Mansion filled with antiques, and crowned with a lovely garden. The original family owned the house for 100 years, the Champion-McAlpins, and also owned a plantation up the Savannah River, the Hermitage. It was purchased by an entrepreneurial single woman in 1938, Alida Harper, who lived in and loved the House for 45 years.
