- This 10,000 square foot Stone Masterpiece was built as a Prohibition Era Hunting Lodge on 40 acres in 1927. The Home of Oil Baron and Oklahoma Governor Robert S. Kerr until 1949, it became an Orthodox Monastery until 1990. The monks were known for their bakery here, and “Brother John’s Bread“ was sold throughout metro grocery stores for 15 years. The last federal crime of 1930’s gangster Machine Gun Kelly was planned in the Ballroom here in 1933, for which Kelly was sent to Alcatraz for Life.
