Iowa State Bank was established to offer the people of Des Moines better savings opportunities, fair loan services, and a secure place to put their deposits. We were the first bank in the city to install drive-up window service and issue certificates of deposit. To further encourage saving, we ran advertisements featuring the slogan "Having Begins with Saving", and continue to offer the Passbook Savings account.
In 1950, Iowa State Bank built a new building on the corner of East 7th and Locust. This was followed in 1959 with an addition that doubled the size of the building. In 2000, another expansion was completed at the Capital Office.
