About the Business
Mickey Strand is a renowned portrait, product, and event photographer who retired as a Navy Chief Photographer (PHC) after 24 years of service. He created the World War II Veteran's Portrait Series to commemorate Veteran's Day 2019. This project included 86 24x30" prints displayed at the Photo Centre of Palm Beach Fl. Since then, Mickey has documented over 100 veterans who have served in the military.
In the past five years, Mickey has been working on his Beyond the Cut Portrait project. This is an exploration of the personalities behind the 'big bad biker' image portrayed by the media and law enforcement. His work was showcased at Nelson Photo in San Diego, California, and was featured in Quick Throttle Magazine with a four-page spread. He also serves as the Area Director for the Help-Portrait San Diego. This program provides portraits to people who are otherwise unable to afford them, such as those receiving treatment at Veterans Village of San Diego.
