  • We began life by salvaging for reuse from the tipping face at Berkeley's landfill, now Cesar Chavez Park. The City incubated our for-profit enterprise as a community service. After multiple moves and fairly steady growth, in 2009 we were able to buy our facility just off the corner of Ashby and 7th. We still salvage under City license at Berkeley's solid waste transfer station; we get 10%-15% of our merchandise that way. We also pick up some things when people or businesses call for help. About 75% of our merchandise is brought to us by people who have still-usable things they no longer want. We are an eco-conservative disposal service, and we sell the saved objects in retail sales to the public so everyone can participate in saving the planet.
