Novato Glass is a family-run business that was founded in 1968 by Dick Matthews. Dick's interest for the glass industry began when he got a summer job at Larkspur Glass, the first glass company in Marin County, in the 1950s. He then went to College of Marin and worked for Southern Pacific Railroad before returning to the glass business and working for San Rafael Glass and Paint, which was instrumental in changing building codes to require safety glass in patio doors across the nation.
With assistance from his father, Dick built Novato Glass up to what it is today: a huge showroom with 12 employees. Sadly, Dick passed away in February 2010, leaving his two oldest sons Rick and Tom to carry on the legacy. Novato Glass provides sales, service, and repairs for residential and light commercial glazing in both Marin and Sonoma Counties.
