About the Business

The Conservatory of Flowers is a unique living museum where visitors can connect with nature and explore rare and exotic plants. Our facilities are perfect for teachers to bring their lessons to life, with field trips and docent tours offering students an up-close look at ecology, botany and history. We also offer a beautiful setting for special events such as weddings, receptions, and other occasions. Our lush galleries provide an intimate atmosphere for small gatherings, and the Orchid Gallery is ideal for larger events. Rentals help support our nonprofit mission to celebrate and preserve the beauty of plants.

You can trust our team to provide you with the best advice and service. We're here to help so don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

  • The Conservatory of Flowers has captivated guests for more than a century. This gem of Victorian architecture is the oldest public wood and glass conservatory in North America. A city, state, and national historic landmark, the Conservatory is one of the most beloved attractions in GG Park. Early to mid 20th century, the Conservatory was challenged by accidents, economics and maintenance issues. After World War II and several boiler explosions the building was deemed structurally unsound, but eventually reopened to the public. In 1998, the Conservatory of Flowers was placed on the 100 most Endangered World Monuments list by the World Monuments Fund. The National Trust for Historic Preservation adopted the Conservatory into its Save America's Treasures program, launched as part of First Lady Hillary Clinton's Millennium Council projects. Funds were raised for rehabilitation, restoration, and stabilization of the Conservatory. The construction lasted from 1999 until 2003.
