Founded in 1984 in San Francisco by a psychologist and an artist in response to the nationwide de-institutionalization of disabled people in the United States, Creativity Explored is a nonprofit serving the neurodiverse community with the ethos that creative expression and art is a human right. The studio and gallery have welcomed hundreds of developmentally disabled artists and facilitated their careers in the contemporary art world locally in the Bay Area and internationally. Visitors enjoy stopping in often to see the changing exhibitions, to meet and visit with the artists and staff, and to shop for incredible and affordable original art.
