Ilya Magid discovered his passion for masonry at a young age while restoring 14th and 15th century buildings in Lithuania during his summer holidays. This love of building with stone and brick continued through his studies at Kaunas Politechnical Institute and Baumans Technical School in Moscow. In 1980 Ilya and his wife Regina moved to the United States, where he started working as a Mechanical Engineer. Seeing a need for experienced masons capable of creating attractive and functional fireplaces, Ilya Magid founded Magid Masonry in 1982.
Since then, Ilya has been providing warmth and beauty from stones and bricks to thousands of families throughout Santa Barbara County. He is an active member of the American Institute of Architects' Santa Barbara Chapter, as well as an associate member of the Santa Barbara County Contractors Association. In 1995, Ilya was selected as the "Builder of the Year". His commitment to the community and dedication to his craft have made Magid Masonry a leader in the industry.
