About the Business
The SoWa Power Station is a century-old building renowned for its late-industrial glamour. Constructed in 1896, it was the largest electric power generation plant in the world and was capable of powering the West End Street Railway. After undergoing extensive restoration and conservation, it has become a space for community events and celebrations, including Create Boston, Illuminus, Copenhagen Beer Festival, Fitbit Local, HubWeek, the SoWa Winter Festival and Cochon555.
On Sundays during the Open Market season, the Power Station transforms into the SoWa Beer Barn, a vibrant taproom featuring an array of local brews and ciders chosen by Craft Collective, live music, lawn games, and food truck favorites. The Beer Barn offers a unique opportunity to experience a piece of Boston's history while enjoying some of the city's most beloved craft beverages.
