In January 2018, the Madam Walker Legacy Center (MWLC) and Indiana University (IU) began a collaboration to preserve and honor the legacy of Madam C.J. Walker. It includes the renovation of the MWLC building and new programming. This endeavor is part of a strategic plan to increase its visibility and ensure sustainability.

The Lilly Endowment Inc. granted more than $15.3 million in support of the transition process and renovation of the building. Improvements include modern equipment, operational system upgrades, and external improvements. This will help the MWLC better serve the current and future leaders, entrepreneurs, and members of the community.

Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles is one of thirteen worldwide locations of Hauser & Wirth, the international gallery devoted to contemporary art and modern masters. A family business with a global outlook, Hauser & Wirth opened its Los Angeles location in March 2016 in the heart of the burgeoning Arts District. Occupying a former flour mill, Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles is a vibrant communal space that links art and architecture with a dynamic events program. In addition to supporting and collaborating with many local and international cultural organizations, nonprofits, and universities, the Los Angeles gallery fosters public dialogue with the arts through a range of activities that engage the city's diverse population. The Los Angeles gallery site includes Manuela, the onsite restaurant offering locally-sourced produce, a chicken coop and urban garden, an open-air courtyard, and murals celebrating the Arts District's history. Additionally, the site is home to the first ARTBOOK store in LA, the Gallery Shop, and Hauser & Wirth Publishers' Book & Printed Matter Lab.

The Integrated Design Lab (IDL), run by the Department of Architecture in the College of Built Environments at the University of Washington, works to find solutions to complicated building performance issues and to meet the building industry's goal of creating high-performing buildings and healthy urban environments. In collaboration with the Bullitt Foundation, the University of Washington Center for Integrated Design offers both private and public group tours of the Bullitt Center, the world's most environmentally friendly commercial office building. Private tours are available Monday through Friday during office hours and are led by a UW CID staff member. For more information, contact Deborah Sigler, Program Coordinator, via dcommons@uw.edu. Public tours of the Bullitt Center are available on Tuesdays at 4:00 PM and Saturdays at noon. These tours last about an hour and are limited to 22 guests. They are led by volunteer docents and UW CID graduate students, and can be scheduled online through Brown Paper Tickets for $5. In 2011, Signal-Return opened its door in an empty storefront on Division Street in Detroit. They are passionate about letterpress printing, an art and craft that was popular in the 15th century and is appreciated anew in the 21st century. The print shop sets the stage for a range of activities and programming. These include hands-on arts workshops, an Open Studio program, educational partnerships with universities and schools, and collaborations with other arts and culture organizations. Signal-Return is helping to revitalize Detroit and support the local art community. Visitors can find unique artwork that was created locally while they explore the Eastern Market for locally grown produce. The former egg crate production building is now filled with creative expression and communication.
