About the Business
The Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion is open to the public for free tours in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Visitors can take a tour Tuesday-Saturday at 3:30pm or arrange a group or school tour by contacting the Preservation Society. The Mansion can also be rented for private parties, meetings and events. - The Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion was constructed by state senator Robert Jemison, Jr. between 1859-1863. This mansion was the senator's city residence and intended to be a place for hosting important colleagues and upscale parties. The Jemison's spared no expense to create this state-of-the-art city home. This home has been the residence of many well-known Tuscaloosa names, as well as some more famous figures such as Alabama's first All-American football player and Robert Van de Graaff, the Father of Modern Physics. Come by for a tour and learn more about the lives and home of these historical figures!
