Gore Place

Gore Place is a historic house and museum that has been named a National Historic Landmark. Visitors can take guided tours of the property Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Each tour is approximately 45 minutes long. Gore Place is the Federal period estate of the former Massachusetts Governor Christopher Gore. This mansion is renowned for its beautiful furnishings, earning it the title of "The Monticello of the North" among architectural historians. The mission of the Gore Place Society is to promote and preserve the 1806 estate of Christopher and Rebecca Gore as an educational resource to demonstrate early 19th century American life. The estate still has a small farm with sheep, goats, poultry, and a Farm Stand which sells vegetables produced with organic practices. The house is owned and managed by Austin Jr. Forum, a women's volunteer service organization. It provides a spectacular setting for small to medium-sized weddings and events at a reasonable price. Brides are free to bring caterers of their own choice, regardless of whether they are on our recommended vendor list or not. We welcome visitors to tour our beautiful Victorian home during business hours. It is situated at the corner of West Avenue and 15th Street, with on-site parking.
