- The inspiration of the project originated in 2018 when Ian Callender, Owner of Suite Nation, and childhood friend and business ally Kevin Hallums of Rock Creek Social Club, both of whom are D.C. natives, wanted to commemorate the 25th anniversary of one of their favorite movies, "The Sandlot." Unfortunately, COVID-19 ended our inaugural year of business as Sandlot Southwest in Buzzard Point. After welcoming over 35,000 patrons from March 2019 to October 2019, and a special run alongside our XFL DC Defenders team in February and March 2020, we were forced the close our doors in June 2020, indefinitely. With continued support from MRP Realty, we were able to relocate our project to the base of their brand new residential development on Florida Rock called the Maren.
